Bruno Leal Jr., a proud retired Navy veteran, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2022, at the age of 59.
Bruno is survived by his parents, Bruno Leal Sr. and Margaret Rodriguez. He was the first born of 7 children and is survived by his brother, Ruben Leal Sr. and his sisters; Anita Torres, Cynthia A. Castillo, Margaret Miramontes, Linda Ochoa, and Sandra Leal. Bruno also had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews that he loved and adored.
Bruno attended Rice High School where he graduated in 1981. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he spent 21 years in the service. He retired in 2001 and stayed in Hawaii working for the Navy Federal Exchange before returning home in 2012. Once Bruno was home, he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Dallas Cowboys play. He always enjoyed playing with his great nieces and nephews. Every opportunity he got, you could catch him at one of their sporting events or school programs.
He will be remembered by his big smile, witty comments, and caring heart. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews John Castillo, Ruben Leal Jr., James Ochoa, Christopher Torres, Jacob Leal and great-nephew Gavin Leal. Honorary pallbearers will be great-nephews Bryson Leal and Jameson Godley.
The viewing will be held on March 3, 2022 at Eagle Lake Funeral Home, 607 N. McCarty Avenue, from 4:00-5:00 pm for immediate family and begins at 5:00 pm for all other friends and family. The rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm on March 3, 2022 at Eagle Lake Funeral Home.
Church services will be held at The Parish of Nativity Catholic Church, 308 N. Stevenson Street, at 10:00 am on March 4, 2022. After services Bruno will be transported to his final resting place at The Parish of the Nativity Cemetery, 545 Austin Road in Eagle Lake.
