Donald Lee Jones

Donald (Don) Lee Jones, 85, of LaGrange, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 5, 1938, in Princeton, West Virginia. After high school, he served as a paratrooper in the US Army with the 101st Airborne Division. He then moved to Richmond, Texas, where he lived for over 50 years.  Don was the owner and operator of Jones Appliances and AC in Rosenberg. He was a long-time officer and member of the American Legion in Richmond and recently in LaGrange.

Don was an avid reader who also enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and gardening with his family and friends.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his incredible wisdom.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jones and Hattie Griffith Jones; daughter, Donna Jones Hellwig; brother, Dan Jones; and his mother and father-in-law, Dallas and Lou Ella Hodde.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Hodde Jones of LaGrange; daughter, Cindy Jones Coleman and husband Jim, of Katy; and his sister Betty Jenson of Barstow, California. Grandchildren: Tyler Hellwig and wife Rylee, and Ryan Hellwig and wife Tannah all of Sisseton, South Dakota; Kyle Coleman and Kristen Coleman of Katy. Great grandchildren: Aleigha, Paislee, Alice, and Allison Hellwig.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Lissie United Methodist Church, 2557 Franklin Street, Lissie, Texas 77454.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
