Hazel Theresa Tomek Tomchesson, 90, of Eagle Lake, passed away, peacefully, on April 25, 2023 in Eagle Lake, Texas. She was born November 13, 1932 in Rose Hill, Texas to Roland F. and Anna G. (Auchter) Tomek.
She married Albert D. Tomchesson from Tomball on November 27, 1954 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tomball, Texas. They settled in the Cypress area where they raised their four children and then moved to Eagle Lake in 1971 where they resided until her death.
Hazel had several jobs, including working many years at RCISD in the cafeteria, where she retired, working at the Little League concession stand, and also on the farm along with Albert and her children. She enjoyed cooking and making dewberry cobbler for her family. They were outdoor enthusiasts and loved working in their large garden, fishing, hunting, camping and travelling with their family.
Hazel took care of Albert after a back surgery in 2004, that left him paralyzed, from the waist down, until his death. It was a life changing event for the family, but it didn’t slow them down. Alterations were made to the home, a special vehicle was purchased with a wheel chair ramp, garden tools lengthened and deer stands revised. Hazel saw to it that they were still able to go fishing with family on special boats and camping in camper that had a special ramp to enter to continue to do the things they loved.
Hazel and Albert were long time members of Parish of the Nativity and Hazel was a charter member of Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of the Fields #2465.
Hazel is survived by her children, sons, David Myron and wife, Susan (Hatchett) Tomchesson of East Bernard, and Albert Thomas and wife, Jan (Steverson) Tomchesson, of The Woodlands, and her daughters, Cynthia Treybig and husband, Chris, of Segovia and Roberta Johnson and husband, Bruce, of Eagle Lake, her two granddaughters, Major Kristi (Johnson) Kennedy, Periodontist and her husband, Captain Chris Kennedy, currently abroad, and their son, Kieren and Hillary Johnson, DDS and her fiancé, Reagan Norris, of Danbury, and his son, Graham.
