H.L. Austin

Henry Lorane Austin, Jr. (H.L.) stepped into heaven Monday December 4, 2023, at home surrounded by family and friends. H.L. was born January 29, 1949, at Eagle Lake, Texas. H.L. married the love of his life, Susan Coleman Austin, September 18, 1971. After graduating Eagle Lake High School, H.L. enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Viet Nam, and honorably discharged. H.L. worked offshore for Chevron Oil. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of Eagle Lake Masonic Lodge #366. H.L. was preceded in death by his parents Henry Lorane Austin and Robbie Beals Austin Beene and sister Carla Marek. H.L. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan, children Sheila (Shane) McKinnon and Stephanie )Jamie) Beard; grandchildren Christian (David) Hittle, Toni McKinnon, Joshua (Darci) Beard, Tiffany (Tyler) Young, Toby Beard; great grandchildren Aston, Beckham, Kansen, Sophie, Brantley; brother, Tim Austin,; brother-in-law, Larry Marek; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2023, 3-5 pm at Eagle Lake Funeral Home, EAgle Lake, Tx. Funeral service will be at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Alleyton, Tx. on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2 pm. Officiant will be Re. H. O. Williams; graveside, Masonic Cemetery, Eagle Lake, Tx. Serving as pallbearers will be David Hittle, Wilbert Williams, Graig Crain, Joshua Beard, Toby Beard. Honorary pallbearers  Tim Austin, James Hoffman, Curtis Tate, Louis Barrow.
