Hortense Macias Ramirez

Hortense Macias Ramirez, 90, of Eagle Lake, TX, passed away on September 18,2024.

Hortense was born in Waelder, TX on November 9, 1933, to parents Joe and Petra Macias.

She married her love Herbert Ramirez on November 28, 1955 in Houston, Texas. 

She loved taking care of her family and friends and enjoyed cooking and hosting the holidays. She had her own secret recipe for making the most amazing tortillas.

She was a prominent member of Our Lady of Guadelupe Catholic Church and then Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church, Eagle Lake, Texas.

Remaining to cherish Hortense’s memory are husband Herbert Ramirez; children Ernest Ramirez and David Ramirez Sr. and spouse Mary Ramirez; grandchildren, William Ramirez, Heather Cope, Robert Ramirez, Steven Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez, David Ramirez, Jr., Ryan Meehan; great-grandchildren, Alexis Ramirez, Sophia Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez Jr, Brighton Cope, Liam Ramirez, Trillian Meehan, Skylar Meehan, and Vivica Strong. Siblings Joe Macias, Mary Faz, and Patricia Hennessey. 

Preceding Hortense in death are children, June Ramirez, Herbert Ramirez Jr, Carl Ramirez; parents, Joe and Petra Macias; sister, Dora Ketchum Matkin.

Visitation will be held Tuesday September 24, 2024, at 5pm at Eagle Lake Funeral Home. Rosary to follow at 6pm. 

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Wednesday September 25, 2024 at 2pm at Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church, with Father Oscar Amo officiating. Burial services to follow at Lakeside Cemetery at 3:15pm. Pallbearers: Ryan Meehan, William Ramirez, Robert Ramirez, David Ramirez, Jr., Anthony Ramirez, Matthew Hennessey, and Bill Jones.
