Mike Romo, a lifelong resident of Eagle Lake, Texas was born on the 23rd of September 1944 in Pearland, Texas and died of natural causes on Sunday, the 12th of January 2025 in Eagle Lake, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Carmen Romo; his sister and brother in law, Virginia and Mike Duarte; his brothers, Jesse and Tony Romo; and his beloved daughter, Elva Ann Romo. Mike is survived by his son, Michael Romo; his grandchildren, Michaelanne Romo-Campos (James), Laura Romo, Seth Romo, and Eric Romo; his daughter in law, Marisa Romo. Special thank you to his niece and nephew, Imelda and Carlos Hernandez who made daily visits and were supportive of Mike during his final days.
Mike lived in Eagle Lake for most of his life. He worked as a forklift operator. When he retired he said he became restless, so continued to work part-time in Eagle Lake. Mike enjoyed the small things in life, country music, western movies and drives in his truck. In his earlier years he loved putting on his cowboy boots and go dancing in Sealy, Texas.
Later in life he enjoyed watching his collection of DVD movies and VHS movies. Most of all Mike loved his family, it was evident when you walked into his home. The walls were covered with photos of his children, grandchildren, brothers and sister, as well as his nieces, nephews. One could go into his home and take a walk down memory lane with all the photos. Mike will be missed, but he will always have a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.
Visitation is from 9:30am-10:30 am Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Parish of the Nativity, 308 N Stevenson St. Eagle Lake, Texas followed by the Holy Rosary at 10:30 am and Mass at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Nativity Cemetery 545 South Austin Road Eagle Lake, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Seth and Eric Romo, James Campos; nephews: Randall and Michael Duarte, Carlos Hernandez.
