Rachel Herrera Torrez

Rachel Herrera Torrez, our dear mother passed away on December 4th, 2024 at the age of 73 in Eagle Lake, Texas. She was a wonderful person who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love.

Rachel was born on January 22, 1951 in Yoakum, Texas to Trinidad "Pancho' Herrera and Carmen Partida. She was the youngest sibling with two brothers, two sisters and half-sister. She married her sweetheart Guadalupe Torrez on March 5th, 1967 and they had six children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Guadalupe Torrez, Jr., sisters, Andrea Herrera Garcia and Eva Herrera and a brother Ralph Herrera.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Guadalupe Torrez, Sr., of Eagle Lake. Daughters; Jo Ann Perry of Eagle Lake, Bobbie Joe Contreras of Eagle Lake and Jennifer Owens (Joey) of Columbus. Sons Steve Torrez, Sr. (Elaine) of Eagle Lake, and Marcus Torrez (Veronica) of Eagle Lake. Brother Roger Herrera (Alice) of Yoakum, Texas and half-sister Guadalupe Herrera Gomez of Corpus Christi, Texas. 16 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

 Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Monday, December 9th, 2024 at the Eagle Lake Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, at the United Methodist Church, 200 W Prairie Ave, Eagle Lake, Texas. Pastor Thomas Kuykendalh, officiating.

The burial will be at the Nativity Cemetery in Eagle Lake, Texas. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Contreras, Christopher Lopez, Steve Torrez, Jr., Michael Owens, Omarion Johnson and Tiffany Baden. Honoary Pallbearers will be Steve Torrez, Sr., Marcus Torrez, and Guadalupe Jesus Torres.
