Virginia Rodriguez was also lovingly known by  many as "Mama Jennie" passed away February 18, 2021 in Austin, Texas. She was born December 22, 1945 in Halletsville, Texas. She was employed for over 20 years at The New Beginning Child Development Center and was a member of Iglesia Bautista Getsemani.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe B Rodriguez; son, Joe Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Sonia; daughter, Melissa Garza and husband David; grandchildren, Justin Garza, Emily Garza, Rianna Flores, Gavin Vasquez, Melody and Kristian Johnson; sisters,  Mary DeLeon, Helen Rodriguez; brother, Paul Lira and a host of other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Martha Lira; son, Jeff Rodriguez; brothers, Margarito Lira, Henry Lira and Pablo Flores; sisters, Valentina Maldonado and Jesusa Ebara.

Family will receive visitors starting at 11:30 AM at Eagle Lake Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Garza, Justin Garza, Joe Rodriguez, Jr., Adrian Flores, Stacy Hernandez and John  Rodriguez, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Arrington Arnell Jenkins, Jr.
